Joel
School is designed for young learners who are just
beginning their formal education. Our primary goal is
to provide children a strong academic, social and
emotional foundation. Curricula and educational programs
have been developed based on state and national
guidelines to meet the needs of these young learners.
Instruction is designed to be appropriate
developmentally and to meet the needs of the diverse
learning styles of primary-aged children. The
kindergarten program is a full-day program. Kindergarten
parents may select a half-day program. In grades two
and three, parents have three placement options: single
grade, looping or a 2/3 integrated day multi-grade
class. Reading, writing and mathematics form the core
of instruction at Joel. All content areas support this
instruction. Students are also provided important
foundational concepts and skills in Spanish, physical
education, art, music and library.
Again
this year, Joel School will be hosting exchange students
from Liestal University in Basel, Switzerland, offering
the Clinton School children a unique cultural
experience. (see Swiss Intern Program)
Special events include an Open House in September,
monthly cultural assemblies, Family Math and Literacy
Nights, and winter and spring
choral concerts. Parents are encouraged to join our
parent organization, Friends of Joel, and to become
involved in school activities.
